Situation Project Students Experience SCHOOL OF ROCK

A testimony to the transformative power of music, School of Rock is a brand new musical based on the Paramount film written by Mike White, which starred Jack Black, with additional music composed by the show’s producer, Andrew Lloyd Webber. In continuing our mission to help deserving New York City public school students gain access to cultural experiences, The Situation Project is bringing students to experience the show live this fall. The students and educators will also engage in conversations and curriculum based on the themes of the show: Each student in the show brings something unique to the band and contributes to the experience - what unique abilities do you bring to your group? “Stick it to the Man” is about being yourself and standing up for what is right - how would you stick it to the man?

Additionally, this October we visited MS 343's 6th graders to share School of Rock's brand new 360º  music video on Google Cardboards.

The Situation Project believes that access to cultural experiences is essential in school curriculum and serves as a vehicle to help close the achievement gap for many students. Thank you to our amazing supporters and the producing team of School of Rock for making this experience possible.
